On Thursday Jed and I went to Greenock South Australia , Mandy told us to pop down as she knew of a good bed and breakfast The Old Telegraph Station built in 1860 is very popular with travellers and we booked for the night. We enjoyed the stay as the home had a big open fireplace with plenty of red gum timber it was cosy and romantic, even Jed thought it was good.
The bathroom was great a real old fashioned meets modern with a very large spa bath, I really enjoyed the suds and had a great sleep that night. The property has a large rear garden which is private and you can see the neighbouring palms in the distance.
The Barossa Valley is so lovely and I was so grateful to the staff for giving us a free bottle of local wine from St Halletts winery. My Jed said he loved it too, we went to Saltrams for wine tasting and lunch the next day it is near Angaston about 15 mins from The Old Telegraph Station. See www.oldtelegraphstation.com
Jed decided to pay a visit to Maggie Beers as Jed is a chef by profession and he had seen her on TV he really wanted to see what her place was like. Maggie Beers is located near Tanunda and set overlooking a lake where you can sit and eat cake and enjoy a coffee, being a chef that is not the only thing they sell you can buy some real Greenock Barossa Valley favourites including German sausage.
Maggie Beer has a new book out also packed full of many delights we luckily picked up a signed copy this made Jed's day.
We headed back to the B&B and have booked another night because it was such a great day. Tomorrow we have a day out planning to visit Wolf Blass winery and a local chocolate producer famed for it's organic chocolate.
Later we will visit a nice older couple that we met during our visit to Maggie Beers. They live in Angaston one of my favourite little townships with a beautiful church and council building. Many people eat out in Angaston some really good food stops can't wait.
