Verizon Wireless has launched their music downloading program for their V Cast customers. This is one of the first downloading services where users can download the music right to their cell phone and to their computer.
Currently, this music downloading service is available on two Verizon mobile devices, the Samsung a950 and the LG VX8100 and is only available in the Verizon network. This new service being offered by Verizon costs users $15 a month plus $.99-$1.99 a song depending on if they download the song to their computer or to their handheld device.
Last year Cingular released the Rokr mobile phone, which holds 100 I-Tunes. However, these songs had to be downloaded to a user's computer and then uploaded to the cell phone via a USB cord. Verizon offers downloads right to the user's mobile phone, decreasing downloading and transfer time.
This new music service requires Windows Media Player 10, which is only compatible with Windows XP and is preloaded on the two compatible cell phones. This service is not compatible with MP3 or I-Tunes.
V Cast is Verizon's downloading service where users can download mobile games, ringtones, video clips and now music. Each download costs an additional fee. Users should check with Verizon for current download promotions and charges.
